Team Hallam<\/strong> is the home of club and performance sport at Sheffield Hallam University. With over 40 student-run sports clubs and more than 65 teams competing in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) league programme, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can College Partner Students Represent SHU in BUCS?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Yes – students studying at one of Sheffield Hallam University\u2019s UK college partners can represent SHU at BUCS events, provided their college is not<\/em> a registered BUCS member. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This enables more students have access to competitive university-level sport, even if their college does not participate directly in BUCS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Understanding BUCS Eligibility<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

BUCS publishes eligibility regulations for both individuals and institutions. These can be found on the BUCS website<\/a>. Further institutional regulations<\/a> can also be found on the BUCS pages. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following regulation is particularly relevant to this policy:<\/strong>
> 2.6.5 FE College Offering HE Qualifications Model
REG 2.6.5.1.1 If HE students are awarded qualifications from another current BUCS
Member, that BUCS Member relinquishes the right for those students to compete on
their behalf. As per BUCS regulations, an individual may only represent one
institution\/Playing Entity per season. Should an FE College meet the criteria and
become a Full BUCS Member, any HE students studying at that College will only be
eligible to compete for that College\/Member \u2014 not for the institution awarding their
qualification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your college is not<\/strong> a BUCS member, and you\u2019re studying a SHU-awarded qualification, you\u2019re eligible to represent Sheffield Hallam University<\/strong> in BUCS competitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
