| Iron Sharpens Iron: How Strong Students’ Unions Strengthen University Partnerships | This session explores how students’ unions can strengthen the student experience across university partnerships. Drawing on Hallam Students’ Union’s work with partner colleges, it will highlight how effective student voice provides constructive challenge – helping identify what works, where support can improve, and how barriers impact learning and belonging. The session will also consider how strong representation contributes to stronger institutions, particularly for students studying away from the main campus. Finally, the session will introduce the Partner Student Lead Rep role, designed to connect collaborative students with the SU, surface common themes, and ensure their voices inform wider university and partnership discussions. |
| GenAI for Learning in a Shifting Educational Landscape | Generative Artificial Intelligence is creating significant shifts in learning, teaching and assessment across further and higher education. For many staff and students, the pace of change can feel fast, uneven and sometimes overwhelming. This presentation will offer a clear view of what GenAI can realistically contribute to learning and how digital innovation can be approached in a thoughtful and ethical way. It will focus on supporting staff and students to develop confidence, judgement and independence. By drawing on current work at Sheffield Hallam University, sector guidance and real examples from practice, delegates will gain a better understanding of how to develop the use of GenAI in their contexts and make informed choices that align with curriculum, values and the needs of their learners. The presentation will explore how fear can be replaced with clarity and will highlight practical opportunities that help both staff and students to thrive. |

| Integrating Specialist-Sector Training Through Academic Education | The brief will explore how specialised sector training can be effectively incorporated into academic programmes, navigating cultural differences between military training and academia. It will discuss collaborative approaches to curriculum design and interdisciplinary education, ensuring the balance between accreditation and recognition of military training. |
| Making T Levels work in a modern FE environment | This session will focus on the implementation of successful T Levels and building connected progression pathways. |
| Learning Together – Navigating Collaborative Partnerships | This session will bring people together to explore how meaningful collaboration supports, and is supported by, quality assurance processes. Through shared discussion and practical examples, participants will reflect on what enables effective partnerships, learn from challenges, and identify ideas to strengthen collaborative working. |
| Putting AI into Practice | This interactive workshop builds directly on the earlier presentation and gives delegates the opportunity to explore how to support implementation of GenAI in teaching and learning in a practical way. Through guided conversations participants will explore the development of GenAI with teaching and learning in their context, evaluate where approaches could strengthen learning and how principles of practice can provide a foundation to build a shared understanding. The workshop will explore ethical and transparent practice, supporting staff, and the development of simple, feasible activities that do not rely on specialist tools or large budgets. The session will finish with an action planning activity so that each delegate leaves with next steps for their context. |
